The pattern testing process has started for the Cairngorm Vest, and I wanted to share a quick update for this exciting moment!
This will be my first official paid pattern release as Lovely Dovely Design, but it’s been a long time behind the scenes to get here. The Cairngorm Vest is only one of many patterns that I have been perfecting in the background. It has been planned, drafted, calculated, graded and reworked over a long period of time to ensure it is of the highest standard I can possibly achieve. It also takes time to ensure that all of my patterns are accompanied with relevant video support, which the Cairngorm will be.
Cairngorm is a fitted crochet vest. It can be worn on its own or layered over a shirt, depending on the season. It is quick to work up and it has some clever tricks to make the process even quicker to make, without compromising on fit and quality. My testers will be integral to ensuring that the vest fits in all the right places and that the pattern is easy to follow.
Pattern testing
The pattern is currently in its testing phase.
Applications close: 2 February
Testing period: 9 February – 1 March
Sizes: XXS–5XL
Yarn: DK weight
This is a full garment pattern test. Testers are expected to be comfortable following written crochet patterns, able to meet the testing deadline, and willing to provide clear feedback and basic fit notes.

Over February, my focus will be on reviewing feedback, refining fit and shaping, and making sure the instructions and supporting tutorial videos do what they’re meant to do. Clear guidance and proper pattern support are paramount to all that I do at Lovely Dovely Design.
This stage of the process can look quiet from the outside, but it’s where the real work happens. I will just say that I’m excited, a bit nervous, and dedicated to producing inclusive, exciting and reliable garment patterns now and going forward.
